What to do after your Hydrafacial?
WHAT IS A HYDRAFACIAL?
An important step in any effective skincare treatment involves resurfacing the top layer of skin. One commonly known resurfacing procedure, microdermabrasion, uses micro-crystals to mechanically exfoliate the skin. While this method is very effective, it can also be irritating for acne-prone or sensitive skin types.
To address these concerns, HydraFacial was born, using water as the exfoliating medium. This multi-step treatment uses a patented device to cleanse, exfoliate, and extract dead skin cells while bathing the skin in serums packed with rich hydrating ingredients, antioxidants, and peptides. In addition to this, you can work with your skincare professional to further customize your HydraFacial by incorporating add-ons or boosters targeting your specific skin concerns.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A HYDRAFACIAL TREATMENT?
HydraFacials can be performed on all skin types, including very sensitive skin. What is unique about this treatment is that it is highly customizable. Your skincare professional will work with you to understand your unique skin concerns and will recommend a personalized treatment for you. It should be noted, however, that the HydraFacial is on the gentler side of the facial treatment spectrum. Clients requiring deeper resurfacing may achieve greater results from more intense treatments such as medical grade peels or laser treatments.
Even though HydraFacials are relatively gentle, there are certain skin concerns such as chronic rosacea and severe acne that preclude receiving any treatment. As always, it is best to consult with your skincare professional to discuss any conditions or allergies prior to booking a session. HydraFacials should also be avoided by individuals with a contact allergy to shellfish, as it is an ingredient found in one of the primary steps of the treatment.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Step 1: Cleanse and peel.
The skin is cleansed twice using vacuum technology with the vortex pen.
First, cleanse = algae extract and lactic acid serum.
Second, cleanse = a mixture of glycolic and salicylic acids.
Step 2: Extract and hydrate.
This is when the vortex suction starts!
Debris and sebum (oily gunk) are removed from your pores with the 'painless' suction system that also delivers moisture back into the skin at the same time.
Uses a salicylic acid serum to help remove the gunk, and a hyaluronic and peptide serum to hydrate the skin.
Step 3: Fuse and protect.
The final step saturates the skin with antioxidants and peptides to give you that post-facial glow.
A serum specific booster to your individual skin concerns is also applied to the skin.
